What is a Picture Mount?
A picture mount (sometimes called a mat) is the border that sits between your artwork and the frame, cut from mount board with a central aperture that reveals the image while surrounding it with a clean, balanced border.
Picture mounts serve two key purposes: they enhance visual presentation by creating space between the artwork and the frame, helping draw the eye to the image and giving it a more professional, gallery-style appearance, and they protect your artwork by preventing it from touching the glass, reducing the risk of moisture damage, sticking, or smudging over time.
